RAMBAN, APRIL 29 (KNO) : Minister for Public Works, Naeem Akhtar today visited Khari and Banihal Tehsil of Ramban district and addressed a public gathering there. He also took stock of ongoing development works. Former Deputy Speaker, Sartaj Madani, MLC Firdous Tak and large number of people were present on the occasion.

Addressing the people, the Minister said that government is committed for overall development of every corner of the state and it has initiated various schemes and projects for providing better civic amenities to general public. He said that many mega projects are in progress in different parts of the district, which are playing a pivotal role for providing job opportunities to locals and facilitate overall development of area. The Minister said that the nature has bestowed Ramban district with abundant natural resources including mighty Chenab river, perennial streams, water bodies, forests which needed to be protected and preserved for future generations. The Minister said that public needs to build consensus as to how they can rebuild their villages on modern lines. For this, the Minister announced every possible help from government.

Earlier, the Minister accompany by DDC Ramban, Tariq Hussain Ganai inspected Jawahar tunnel and passed necessary directions to authorities for its maintenance and protection. He also took stock of progress on different road and other projects and directed the concerned executing agency to speed up the work. He also interacted with public at Banihal, Bankot and Khari and listened to their demands. He issued on the spot directions to concerned authorities to resolve all the issues raised by public.
